Music
More than 40 years ago, Suzuki realized the implications of the fact that children the world over learn to speak their native language with ease.
He began to apply the basic principles of language acquisition to the learning of music, and called his method the mother-tongue approach. The ideas of parent responsibility, loving encouragement, constant repetition, etc., are some of the special features of the Suzuki method. |
Zandra Willoughby is our full-time music teacher. She has a music degree, sings, plays multiple instruments, and even writes songs for the children to sing and perform. Ms. Zandra also offers piano and voice classes in the evenings. Ms. Tracy has performed with Suzuki group in Sweden as well as with the Kansas City Civic Symphony. Private lessons or small group lessons are available twice a week. 15-30 minutes is $5. Lessons are individually taught except for a once a month group class and an annual recital. If it is possible we recommend parents attend the lessons. |
